Today I had a really long conversation with a man named Rafa from Pakistan who works at the little mercat on the street I live on.
We started talking, and somehow the convo turned to how it's the end of Ramadan. He was telling me about how he's been praying for peace, and love, and the world. He talked about the importance of paying it forward and doing good deeds, and how it's especially important to focus on these things during Ramadan. His mosque has been giving out hundreds of kilos of food this month, and he talked about how the Catholic churches have been helping. He thought that was very beautiful.
He told me were friends, gave me gift, and told me he was going to pray for me and my travels on these last days of Ramadan.
Can you imagine if everyone took a month to devote to generosity and think of love and sharing? Or, if that's just how we lived- every month? Continually paying it forward and blessing each other with respect and positivity? Amazing.
Thank you, Rafa.
